Welcome to our Year 4/5 class page!|
On this page, myself and Mrs Anderton will keep you up to date with what we are studying each term and any other important information.
Spring term in Lomberg’s Lobsters is full of exciting learning. This term we begin our English unit based around Lewis Carroll’s famous novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. We will be looking at place value, time, addition and subtraction, mental and written multiplication, measurement, geometry and fractions in Maths. Our Science learning centres around living things and their habitats which we will link to our digital research topic in Computing.
Our first topic this term is ‘Rivers of the World’ where we will especially focus on the features of a river and map work. We will then move on to learn about Ancient Greece where the children will explore what it was like to live in this time and how it compares to our society. In Art we will work with a range of mediums studying Landscapes and Cityscapes focusing on artists Monet, Van Gogh and Metzinger. Lancashire music service will be visiting our class every week introducing a range of instruments along with Accrington Stanley who will be delivering some of our PE lessons. Mount Carmel PE staff will also lead wellbeing sessions for Lomberg’s Lobsters as a part of our ongoing transition programme. Our next French topic is food and drink – délicieux!
As you will know, Religious Education and our Catholic faith forms a part of everyday life at St Mary’s though we do also teach specific areas of Catholicism in focused lessons. This term we will be looking at our local church community, Eucharist, self-discipline and Pentecost. Children will also lead weekly worship sessions for our class.
